Deepening Spiritual Life, Discerning the Voice of the Lord, Shepherding and Caring, and Becoming a Spiritual Companion in the Body of Christ.
We hope that the student, after completing the two-year course, will grow in the following aspects:
- Deepen the spiritual life and establish a lifestyle guided by the Holy Spirit.
- Experience holy listening and discernment, recognizing the voice and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
- Knowledgeable on the mainstream spiritual direction theories and skills, and begin to establish a personal Spiritual Direction model.
- Acquire mainstream counselling theories and basic counselling skills.
- Understand the biblical theological perspectives on spiritual direction and integrate them continuously in practice.
- Be well-equipped in Spiritual Direction practices and become a spiritual companion in the body of Christ.
- Become a spiritual director grounded in biblical and evangelical beliefs.

Course Contents
- Fully online Cantonese courses. Classes are taught in group formats, including group discussions and exchanges, individual Spiritual Direction sessions, group Spiritual Direction experiences, Spiritual Direction internships and supervision, etc. Emphasis is placed on students’ personal Spiritual life development, integration and practice of theory, practicum and biblical teachings.
- While the course explores Western theories, it is grounded in the context of Chinese churches, aims to nurture spiritual companions who are “rooted in the Bible while blending Chinese and Western cultures”.
- Each 3-hour class is conducted on the second and fourth week of each month, not including practicum and personal Spiritual Direction sessions.
- Complete a minimum of 100 hours of Spiritual Direction practicum. Complete the personal Spiritual Direction sessions and personal Spiritual Direction supervision per course requirements. This is to ensure that the student can experience and learn the full aspect of Spiritual Direction.

Application Requiremetns
- Completed MISFM Certificate in Christian Spiritual Formation (CCSF) (for those with similar qualification, please enquire with our Registration office at registration@misfm.org)
- Have a minimum of 4 personal Spiritual Direction sessions, and participate in deeper spiritual life and lifestyle practices.
- Have good English reading and comprehension skills.
- Christians who are born again, have been baptized, have believed in the Lord for 10 years or more, and participate in the service at their home church.participate in serving at their home church.
- Priority will be given to those who are church ministers, church leaders, and have experience in pastoral care or counseling.
- The institute will arrange individual admission interview.
Registration Procedure
- Submit a "Personal Spiritual Biography" of at least 800 words. The main content includes: "Recall, reflect and select several of the most important learning, experiences and transformations by the Lord in your life. Share the reflection on your personal growth and lessons you have learned in a spiritual perspective."
- Complete the application form online and send a recent photo (.jpg or .png format) and the above-mentioned "Personal Spiritual Autobiography" (Microsoft Word or PDF file format) to registration@misfm.org.
